The assessment consists of 30 minutes with the doctor during which time your risk will be assessed by various questions and a physical examination including blood pressure, height, weight, pulse, urine test. Specific tests, if necessary to investigate your risk e.g. ECG, blood tests, X-rays, will be a additional cost.

Allergy consultations
Skin prick allergy testing is possible for some allergies, it takes time and requires a longer appointment. For skin prick testing it is important that antihistamine tablets are not taken for 48 hours prior to the test. Blood tests can be arranged for many other allergies.

Consultation with Prostate cancer screen includes a physical examination, urine test and blood test.

Consultation with colon cancer screen includes a physical examination and a test to look for blood in the stool.

Sexual Health screening can be performed for up to 7 diseases by urine sample testing thus avoiding unpleasant swabs. A consultation with a GP is recommended but is not mandatory. Other infections can be tested using standard blood tests.

Mole screening:
Using an advanced painless computerised scanner developed in Cambridge, MoleMate images the mole and up to 2mm below the surface to look for suspicious changes before they become apparent to the naked eye. This mole screening device uses SIAscopy which measures the absorption and scatter of different wavelengths of light as the scanner illuminates the skin. It is painless and quick. The doctor can use this information together with the clinical assessment to determine the risk.
The service includes a visual inspection to identify suspicious moles. The hand held scanner is then held over the mole for a few seconds .
The appointment lasts approximately 30 minutes, a verbal result being given at the end of the consultation. A personal report is included and can be sent to you as a PDF file with in a few days. A skin specialist will review the scans if required.
